At OdysseyCommunity we have often had conversations about the challenges faced by people with dyslexia and various forms of brain injury. While some companies are reluctant to hire these people, others recognize the value of their unique perspectives and intelligence. Life can take unexpected turns due to accidents, such as car accidents, which put people with brain injuries at a disadvantage. A manager who was previously successful can suddenly lead a completely different life due to such an event. The recovery process can be lengthy and requires patience. In our modern society, the emphasis is often on speed and productivity. We believe that the more we work and the more productive we are, the more successful our lives will be. But this can be a pitfall. The pursuit of constant productivity can lead to stress, anxiety and even burnout. Sometimes everything seems to go perfectly: good profit, a nice company, everything runs smoothly. But then we are confronted with employees who suddenly have to deal with panic attacks and burnouts. And we wonder what went wrong. The point is that nothing necessarily goes wrong. It's the culture that has crept into our heads, the belief that constant productivity is the key to success. But in reality we need each other, as human beings. We need to talk to each other, support each other and help each other. That's what really counts. It is important to note that dyslexia can be treated and improved. There are varying degrees of dyslexia, from mild to severe, and it is important that people are aware of the diverse experiences that people with dyslexia go through. Sometimes people hide their dyslexia for fear of losing their job or not being taken seriously. It is essential that everyone has equal opportunities and that we support and understand each other. Each individual comes from a unique background and has overcome different challenges. At the OdysseyCommunity Foundation we have seen many people with dyslexia achieve their goals and find success.
